We're going to use a stand-off ...not a back-spacer.

Truthfully, I didn't spend too long thinking about this. And that's because using a stand-off is such a clean, and simple solution.

A back-spacer would allow for more customization - but customization is not what we're going for with making the world's best knife.

One possible advantage of using a back-spacer is that it could provide more rigidity compared to a standoff. However, I am very confident the stand-off we have designed is more than rigid enough (during the testing stages we will definitely find this out).
